| Update 03/20/05: Sorry for taking so long to update some information I received from some wonderful people. My father had been ill for a while and that has kept me from the PC for some time. Mike Richards provided pictures of the following theatres : Galaxy, Century South, South Park 4, Embassy, and Central Park Fox.. Jim Miller provided some wonderful insight on how some of the theatres were during the era., Both gentlemen worked at some of the drive-ins in its hey-days. Thanks guys!! |
| Update 07/29/05 - Sorry for taking so long to update. My father recently passed away and it really took a toll on alot of things for me, especially since he really liked this website and all the history with it. We did manage to get a new photograph of the Leon Theatre taken back in the 1940s. Click here to see the new image added today. |
| Update: 08/11/05: We have finally got our new domain site. www.sanantoniotheatres.com. I hope you will enjoy some of the changes that will occur while updating the website wtih the new name. I thought its about time that I get a site since I had it up so long. Hopefully we can add more to it as time goes on, and one day have each theatre listed and pictured if possible. | Update: 12/16/05: They cleaned some of the area where the Bluebonnet/El Capitan Drive-In once stood, so I managed to snap some pictures on where the screen and ticketbooth once stood and its reminence. I placed them on a second page. To go directy there, click here. |

| Update 10/11/07: VERY SAD NEWS TODAY! Aftr 60+ years of gracing th south side of San Antonio, the city has announced that they purchased the Mission Drive-in and will use the land for developement in the coming months. It was only a matter of time that most of us saw this coming, since the last opening did not produce enough of a turn-around to keep it open. Please read the article below. It looks like for the next 4 months they will be reviewing the land to see what can be done with it to benenfit the city. Click here for article. |
